WOYWW

Well last week ... Yet again I had to move my whole desk and stick it in the middle of the room so we could paint the baseboards ... it's still sitting in the middle of the room seeing I had an idea of using our 100 year old baseboard trims to create a back wall for my desk the wood is cut to remove the top leaving me some beautiful planks of wood that is 4 feet by 6 inches now I have to strip away all the paint that was on them, with a heat gun (YUCK I HATE THE SMELL) then will put the wall together then figure out some shelving etc to attach to it I have no idea but it will be a board that sits on my desk so I can move it around, and to top it all off I know I'm going to have to move my space again tomorrow seeing we are getting the rads pulled out to be moved into their new spots seeing we insulated the wall some are just being moved 4 inches forward but what can you do.
So this is what it looked like after I moved it .. the mirror on my desk was so I could do my make up before we went out the joys of living in a renovation lol.Now here's my space today.
I've been painting some salvaged sconce lights to go in our living room they need a couple more coats of paints you can still see some of the blemishes on them but they did come with the cutest little glass light shades that are soaking seeing they had paint on them.
Oh and that LOVELY GREEN Envelope on my desk is from Andrea we swapped ATC so I'll be saving what's inside for the big swap day and show it off then ... I loved what she did BTW :)

So check out everyone else's space over at Julia's for WOYWW
hugs Nikki
I'll pop around to as many spaces as I can :)

  1. Been there, done that. Living in a renovation, that is. Packing, moving, unpacking, dusting, cleaning, etc. Not a lot of fun if you are causing a lot of dust. Looks like yours wasn't quite that bad.

Nice sconces. I bet they are going to be fabulous when they are installed, too.

Thanks for the early visit. It's great to visit and get a few names ticked off the list before Julia wakes, isn't it?

  2. hi Nikki. I kind of know what you're going through with the renovation since I don't have a designated craft space. It is definitely hard moving things around sometimes.. Your plan sounds great though. I can't wait to see it finished.

    Happy early WOYWW!

    Hugs. Kay

  3. Now, using a heat gun for paint stripping, that's a new one on me. Have heard of paint strippers being used for crafting but never the other way around.
    Good luck with it all.
Hugs & thanks for visiting me earlier., Neet xx

  8. Keep telling yourself that it'll all be worth it in the end. So glad I've not been bit by the re-decorating bug - having said that, I sure do need to give my room some love. My recent tidy last for all too short a period of time... :)

    Happy WOYWW!

  10. I thinkyou're doing so well - it would be so easy to let things slide into a dump and not 'live' until the reno is finished. Loving the wall sconces, quite a good find I'd say!

  11. Gosh a busy bunny. We call base boards, skirting boards, here in the UK. SNAP on the shoe front, my feet are exactly the same. In fact that seems to be the theme with all my comments so far. I have lots of these http://www.cottontraders.com/invt/aq11360 Thanks for your visit BJ#39

  15. Great minds think alike, Nikki - I've just sprayed a lamp base with a first coat and am very happy with the result. So glad to see that nothing - even decorating - comes in the way of crafting! Have a great week, Chris # 23

  18. I really feel for you moving all your stuff. I moved my whole roof twice, which was a total nightmare, and I never want to do it again. I am also hoping I don't have to do uch reversing with the caravan, but at least I have some idea of what to do now. Have a good week, Nikki. xx Maggie #20

  22. Heavens decorating is bad enough, moving things around from room to room. not sure I would ever have the stamina for a renovation! Still it will be worth it in the end. I have no idea what you are doing with those rims (!) but I'm sure it will be awesome!! Thanks for the earlier visit, Cindy #45

  23. Oh, you do have my sympathy ... the disruption would drive me crazy. My craft room has still to be decorated 6 months after moving in and I'm dreading the day I have to pack everything away again so that the walls can be painted! Anyway, it seems you have a few interesting projects on the go and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that wood. Thanks for visiting earlier - the L-shaped block is part of a stamp positioner set - the other part is lying under it. I got mine from my local craft shop but I believe Stampin' Up now sell them as Stamp-a-ma-jigs. Good luck with the renovations. Elizabeth x #78

  24. Hi NICCI
I love the idea of decorating and moving stuff but as soon as I start I want it finished.... now! the last room we did was my craft room too... everything had to be removed and I mean everything..... I was so impatient for it to be done.
    good luck

  25. I quite like it when we are doing DIY or having jobs done because it doesn't make my own mess look quite so bad Lol!

  27. Boy aren't you the adventurous one...renovating and crafting and renovating. ;) love the sconces. Btw, the purple thing is a lighter. My BF found it for me. Keeps the flame away from the fingers and doesn't have a safety switch. Seeing as how my hands don't work like normal. Beading is a form of therapy for me to keep the hands working. :) Thanks for the earlier visit! Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #15

  31. Oh wow it must be so hard having to renovate and keep moving bits around. It certainly looks like a lot of yummy craft bits and a fantastic idea for using some would for the front of your desk for shelves. Love the lighting you have on your desk and I bet your excited to have a atc already and waiting for the big day. I would love to swap if you still have a ATC still. Mine are not ready yet but are in the process of making. I loved last year I did loads of swaps and it was so exciting opening them all. Happy Woyww:-) Kezzy xxx
